ProVide Server manages any codepage / Unicode / UTF8 setup you might require and is made to work right out of the box.
There are, however, a few corner cases where some FTP or SFTP clients do not properly negotiate which codepage they intend to use, and consequently, ProVide does not know how to interpret filenames.
For this particular reason, we have added a dedicated configuration that can be set on both group and account levels where you, as an administrator, can specify that a particular account (or the entire group) should always be interpreted as UTF8, for instance regardless of what the client says or not. – This setting is visible on the first “General” page of an account/group; simply change the “Use UTF8” setting to Automatic/Never/Always, depending on your needs.
